Power flushing in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas
Regular maintenance of your central heating system will help to keep it free from problems and ensure it keeps you warm for many years. Servicing your boiler annually is just one piece of the jigsaw; you also need to look after your pipes and radiators to make sure they are working as efficiently as possible. Periodic power flushing is the way to achieve this.
What is power flushing?
Power flushing is the process of flushing dirt, grease and grime out of your entire central heating system. Over time, harmful sludge and rust can build up in your radiators, pipes, boiler and pump. If left untreated, this will certainly affect the efficiency of your system and can eventually lead to one or more parts breaking down. In power flushing, a high-strength chemical treatment is forced at high velocity through your central heating system to remove all of this debris. The dirty water is then replaced with fresh, chemically-treated water.
Our fully-qualified and highly-experienced heating engineers can carry out your power flushing quickly and cleanly with minimal disturbance, restoring optimum circulation of water around your central heating system and improving its efficiency and lifetime.

How do I know if I need a power flush?
There are several tell-tale signs which might indicate you need a power flush. These include:
- Discoloured water when you bleed radiators
- Excessive noise from your boiler or pump
- Radiators with cold areas
- Heating slow to warm up
You will need to carry out a power flush before having a new boiler installed, to ensure that contaminants elsewhere in the system don’t damage the internal pipework of the new boiler.
What does it cost?
The cost of power flushing will depend upon the size of your heating system and how badly it has been affected by contaminants like rust and limescale. If it sounds like an unnecessary expense, think again: the increased efficiency it gives your central heating could translate to a noticeable difference in your energy bills, and you only have to consider what a new boiler might cost if you neglect this routine maintenance to see that it is in fact money well spent./p>
